Buttercup Lane Wooden Gnome Door
In the tangled roots and stems of the garden, if you look very hard, you may see a wisp of smoke from a wee chimney. If you look even harder, you may find a little glowing light spill from a hidden window or an open door set deep in the trunk of a tree.
Children of all ages will delight in discovering this tiny wooden door that really opens, hidden in plain sight in their garden or yard. Inspiring hours of play, they will love adding their own elements to the garden, and daydreaming about the secret lives of the inhabitants within the trunk of the tree!
Our own children have been delighted for years by the fairy and gnome houses in our yard. At each quarter of the year, the solstices and equinoxes, our girls leave a teeny bowl of milk and some breadcrumbs outside the houses before going to bed. In the morning, they eagerly search for signs of the feast, and for a small token of the fair folk's appreciation. They have found various gifts over the years, like a pretty shell, our pewter charms, or flower seeds, and of course, it is always accompanied by a miniature note of thanks from the fairies.
This charming fairy door is approximately 9 inches high and 8 1/4 inches wide. It is constructed by hand with care from 3/4 inch solid pine wood, and can easily be attached to a tree trunk, skirting of a house, inside a bookshelf, or to any surface by using the keyhole slot on the door's back panel. It has a solid hinge, so this door can really OPEN! The door is handmade and one-of-a-kind, so slight variations may occur.
Made in Canada.
